What's been going on at 5 Star ?
We are currently busy collecting DNA samples of our weaners! these DNA samples allow us to Identify the sires which are performing well and getting the most calves. The sampling also has opened up a GBV (genetic breeding values) pathway on our animals which is important for selecting both our males and females.

Carbon Cows
|
Published on Youtube -4th August 2015.
"Prominent Australian stud cattle breeder Geoff Maynard reckons the debate over cows and carbon has focussed too much on their "exhaust emissions" - methane - and not nearly enough on their role as nature's "carbon-capturers and converters". And from his base near Rockhampton in Central Queensland - Australia's beef capital - he's offered some food for thought for scientists and consumers alike." For more details contact Geoff Maynard. |
